BIO

Born January 7th 1982 in Harvey, Illinois, William Martez Mims only child was raised a little bit of everywhere after a 2 months in Harvey his mom moved them to 55th and Indiana in Chicago Illinois. there in a one bedroom apartment they spent a year only too move back to the south suburbs Robbins. Here Q-Storm went to elementary school where students were mostly white but a good experience (Nathan Hale in crestwood illinois) after elementary Mother moved south to the suburb Chicago Heights where Q-Storm attended Roosevelt, Washington jr. high school and Bloom high School. As a only child Q-Storm mostly kept to himself. Q-Storm got into writing poetry as another form of expressing himself since drawing wasn't 100% ventilation. his poems became prophetic and later he personified his personality into a well-prophetic time turnin William Mims into Q-storm. in 2006 Q, hooked up with “michael Jones” to create the underground album "Wordz of Venim Off Michael’s “self label Streetwise Records”. After that Q-Storm began to grow more focused into the music driving out everyone who really wasn't serious about what they said they were. But he needed his own studio set up to really get himself out the way he knew how. In the summer of 2007, Q-Storm built his own studio, taught himself to record and mix and master his own tracks. The creation of the album he would call “The Reinvention” would come in to play. At the top of 2008, Q-Storm discovers “Giovanni’s” a place where local talent is showcased, his first chance on his birthday Jan 7th, he would be known to others. After numerous of shows and local street buzzes, as well as many collaborations via world wide web from east coasts artists from New Jersey, Baltimore Maryland, New York, United Kingdom as well as California/ Q-Storm on August 22nd 2008 released his first album that represented him fully “The Reinvention.” The album displays as a Complete transformation in mind, body, and soul. Speaking on personal experiences to real life captured tablets in the forms of songs like "Long Time Coming, 4Wordz, Illuminati Politics, Circulate, Just to hard, Getting Stronger, If You Ain't Rollin, and many more. After the year cruises with more attention towards the album 2009 comes as Q-Storm branches out in the mist of becoming more knows, now his face is seen as "the emcee" Q-Storm networks with Chicago's underground on a wider range. From North to east west and South to South Suburbs. 2009 Q-Storm began to prep a album called "I Declare War". He began to become more known within his state proximity by performing at numerous open mics, even headlining showcases, his work ethic increases and confidence and power grew within his work. In the entire year of 2009 he also suffered thru heartache, pain, rage and confusion, with songs having more rage and anger aggression channeled thru each experience which caused him to seep in and out at times waiting for allah to mold him into a new "reinvention" and he did.. New year hits 2010. Today Q-Storm is reborn! He's molded into a new being, studies under the 5% nation of gods and earth, connected with more promoters and gods and goddess representing the essence of the music in its organic form and have scored from open mics to headlines on stage within the Chicago underground.The “Chicago Vindicator” is here. He performs all over Chicago spreading his music to the unknown and most known to build and create more energy within the essence of hip hop. In August of 2010 Q-Storm travels back to his first album to re release "the Reinvention" with the strong singles "4WORDZ", "CIRCULATE" "GETTING STRONGER" and "PUBLIC EYE" along with music videos to express himself more broaden range. He is currently finishing his sophmore album “I Declare War.” Set for release in 2011. In 2010 Q-Storm (William Mims) has overcome fears, heartache, insecurities, and demons that were blocking him from progression. With songs and remixes like "AIRPLANES (THE TRUTH REMIX) Q-Storm has developed a key of understand to the community. They receive Q-Storm even more now. As he enlightens us how important from which we are...and were. The revolutionary that the entire universe will shift energy to react into a state of pure revolution. The album will be the most controversial piece of work since "Sheltering Skies" "The Ten Commandments "Me Against The World", "I Am Legend" and "Makaveli".Q-Storm remains Ambitious as the start of the the new beginning is set in stone...On March 26th 2011 Q-Storm released the album "EYE DECLARE WAR" the album today is STILL one of the most if not powerful pieces of work ever invented by man. Later in September on Labor day of September 5th 2011 Q-Storm and King Midas released their first Duo Album "EP" titled "HIP HOP FOR DUMMIES" Q-Storm by this time has become more widen to the internet streams including overseas collabs with well known emcees creating a international buzz as well for Q-Storm. In November of 2011 Q-Storm releases "THE LAST BATTLE" a mixtape based on the time after "EYE DECLARE WAR" with unreleased tracks and also a dedication song to "TROY DAVIS" which caught the attention of black america via world wide web. The song is still one of the most talked about today. December 29th 2011 As last release of 2011 Q-Storm released "WHOZ YA ENEMY?" the song and its controversial theme was released on Itunes and Amazon and other retail internet stores world wide web. On February 18th 2012 Q-Storm attended the "Legends Of HIp Hop" concert featuring EPMD, WHODINI, BIG DADDY KANE, MC LYTE, DA BRAT and RAKIM. overwhelmed by the heavy influence of his idol "Rakim" Q-Storm gears up his 3rd album "THE DARK KNIGHT" set to release in 2012. March 311St 2012 Q-Storm celebrates the release of "THE DARK KNIGHT" at Tiger O Styles. "THE DARK KNIGHT" is Q's latest project and already have been reviewed as his BEST work. Released April 1st 2012 and by May 27th 2012 sold over 100 downloads Itunes and Amazon stores world wide web. FreeMindz Inc being his own imprint, Q-Storm proceeds in his journey of life. In the summer time of 2012 Q-Storm drops a song titled "I Wanna Marry You" over NaS "Daughters" and caught the attention of WCSU's radio personality "Lady J." Lady J brought in Q-Storm to the station twice making Q-Storm the highlighted artist of WCSU Chicago Rising Stars. On September 3rd of 2012 Q-Storm released "UNCENSORED 2" and within a day the mixtape reached over 200 downloads. By the end of 2012 "UnCenSoRed 2" finalizes at over 1300 downloads making this the most successful pieces from Q-Storm so far. In February of 2013 Q-Storm opened up for WU-TANG Clan legend CAPPADONNA. The show was truly a classic and the crowd openly stated that "Q-Storm" was the best local act on stage. With his team he put together early 2013 called "FREEMINDZ INC" with the motto "Yall think it, We live it," Q-Storm prepares the "Invasion" and moves forward. His heavy influences The Black Panther Party for Self Defense, Spike Lee, Dr. Martin Luther King, El Malik Shabazz and Malcolm X, Spike Lee, Marcus Garvey, Angela Davis, Assata Shakur, 2Pac Shakur. Sheila Mims, Wc Butler. The very prime influences that activates his revolutionary senses. In April of 2013 Q-Storm released his final segment of "UNCENSORED" Uncensored 3. First day beating out the numbers of his previous projects. Datpiff rated "UNCENSORED 3" top 8 hottest mixtapes.Becoming Q-Storm' most successful releases since "The Dark Knight" In addition in April of 2013 Q-Storm was selected to participate in the "STOP THE VIOLENCE SPRING FEST" at The Rap Factory in Chicago Illinois. Q-Storm's opening speech "all power to all people, we all here to stop the violence" showing his heavy influence from the powerful movement the black panther party. The show was the most influential show to the members of the FREEMINDZ. In late May Q-Storm released a complilation titled "Q-STORM PRESENTS FREEMINDZ INC YALL THINK IT, WE LIVE IT" Volume One with a variety of artists from all over the planet.

1.WHERE DO YOU SEE HIP HOP/RAP AS A WHOLE RIGHT NOW?

I see hip hop and Rap on a more universal level. Today you have everyone from across the planet involved in the culture, From the block parties and street corners hip hop have reached from their to places like canada and Europe Just to name a few. Its expanding more and more each day. 

2. DO YOU WANT A RECORD DEAL OR DISTRIBUTION DEAL AND WHY?

Answer

I believe today that independent artists wont need a record deal anymore. But more of a distribution with rights to masters and publishing. A smarter choice would be to go after the distribution. 3. WHO DO YOU WANT TO WORK WITH? " I would love to work with RAKIM.

The name "Q-STORM" means "QUIET STORM" I was super duper quiet in high school..i used to only speak to like 2-3 students that i was comfortable with. Being shy a lotta people would say "there go the quiet boy thats that "q" dude. That name started to rotate with everyone so i was known later as "q" (short for quiet) After school i decided to hold on to the name and add "STORM" which would always represent my emotions inside of me. So coining the name later in 2008 "Q-Storm" i personified it. "QUIET" (meaning the status mystique, "STORM" the aggression the force
